Jeff MacKay
Production and Historical Consultant
Jeff MacKay is known for the pirate films, “Pirates of the Great Salt Lake” (props, actor, 2006) and “Blood” (casting director, actor, 2013). Jeff completed his first screenplay, “The Buccaneer,” in 2009. He is an actor, pirate re-enactor, character model, Master Hatter, designer, and prop builder. Since 2003, Jeff has been crafting hats, leatherwork, and props for films such as “Pirates of the Great Salt Lake,” television’s “Jake and the Neverland Pirates,” theatrical productions such as Broadway’s “Finding Neverland” and “Pirates of Penzance,” and for theme parks including Disneyland, Disney World, and Disney Resort Shanghai. His work has also appeared in The Smithsonian Museum, Colonial Williamsburg, and living history groups around the world. Jeff is known throughout the worldwide pirate community as “The MacKay” and was inducted into the prestigious “Order of Leviathan” in 2010, was awarded “Pirate of the Year” in 2015, and inducted into the International “Pirate Hall of Fame” in 2021. Jeff has been educating and entertaining people about pirates and "the sweet trade" for the past two decades.
